Bruins reportedly trade for Taylor Hall, Curtis Lazar taken at BSJ Headquarters (Bruins)

Well, it seems as though the Bruins are indeed going for it this season.

With the B's still in need of some scoring punch outside of its top line, Don Sweeney is reportedly bringing in the top forward on the trade market — with TSN's Darren Dreger reporting Boston is acquiring forwards Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar from the Sabres in exchange for Anders Bjork and a second-round pick.

Hall's tanking value during his four months in Buffalo allowed Boston to pry him from the Sabres on what should be considered a bargain — especially given that Bjork has primarily been scratched over the last week in this B's lineup. Now, granted, Hall is not the same Hall he was during his heyday with the Oilers and Devils, with the former Hart Trophy winner and first overall pick only tallying two goals and 19 points in 37 games with Buffalo.

However, given both his historically low shooting percentage (2.3%) and other promising metrics that we mapped out on our previous breakdown of a potential Hall deal, there stands a very good chance that Hall at least rebounds into a viable top-six winger — especially if slotted next to a guy like David Krejci and perhaps even David Pastrnak. And if he doesn't pan out, then the cost was just a guy in Bjork that was knocked out of the lineup rotation — and a second-round pick.

Boston also is bringing in some much-needed bottom-six depth with Lazar — who has tallied five goals and nine points in 33 games for the Sabres this year. Under contract through next season at a modest cap hit of $800,000 — Lazar is able to play both center and wing and is a trusted PK presence. One wonders if he carves out a regular role on a B's fourth line that has fallen into many ruts this season.
