LIVE COVERAGE, by John Karalis

Fourth quarter

  • Every time the Celtics seem to make a little progress, they give it right back.

  • Jaylen Brown is having a rough game. He has only managed 8 shots and he's hit 5 of them, but he's not playing well defensively and he just seems a step slow

  • The early 3-point barrage has slowed to a trickle. After going 7 for their first 14, they are 4 of their next 16.

  • The lead is 20 with 5:50 to go and this game is effectively over.

Third quarter

  • The turnovers keep piling up for Boston, and there are a lot of live-ball turnovers that put a lot of pressure on the their defense

  • And Robert Williams picks up his 4th foul. Embiid is too good at drawing fouls, and he makes teams pay for any lack of discipline

  • Tatum finally hits a 3. The Celtics aren't out of it yet, but they need pick it up on both ends if they're going to put a run together.

  • Tatum attacked out of the timeout, and it was an 8-0 run to get the lead to 10. Tacko Fall has done a decent job keeping Embiid at arm's length

  • Philly answered with an 11-0 run with most of the damage being done by Simmons and Embiid.

  • The Celtics came out of a time out (and an impassioned Marcus Smart speech) with a little more energy. They hit a couple of 3's and ramped up their defensive intensity to cut the lead down to 15.

Second quarter

  • Jayson Tatum is attacking early, which he needs to do more.

  • Boston is even with Philly even though they have 11 turnovers at the 7:09 mark of the second quarter. That's being offset by Boston's 7-14 shooting from 3

  • Philly started making shots (and Boston started missing) and put together a 14-2 run to go up 8. Danny Green hit a couple of 3-pointers in that stretch. He hit another 3 later to push the lead to 13.

  • Brad Stevens goes to Tacko Fall for some help at the rim as the Philly lead grows. The Celtics actually were able to slow the run down, but then it became a bit of basket-exchanging

  • Philly hit 5 3-pointers in the quarter. Tatum is 0-5 from deep. He has 5 points at the half.

First quarter

  • 7-0 run to open the game for Philly. Embiid a bit of a handful. Robert Williams gambled on one play and fouled. They need more discipline in those spots. Boston, meanwhile, is struggling to duplicate their great ball movement from the past two games.

  • Boston answered with a 3-pointer by Jayson Tatum and a 3-point play from Marcus Smart.

  • The Celtics kept things close early by outscoring Philly 8-0 in second chance points to start the game.

  • Robert Williams picked up two early fouls but Brad Stevens put him back in late in the first, and Williams immediately picked up his third.

  • Embiid is living at the free throw line, but the Celtics are doing a good job of keeping everyone else at bay

  • Boston is 5-10 from 3

  • Celtics vs. 76ers spread: 76ers -2

  • Celtics vs. 76ers over-under: 221.5 points

  • Celtics vs. 76ers money line: Celtics -139, 76ers +119
