LIVE COVERAGE, by John Karalis

Overtime

  • Jeff Teague, amazingly, has kept the Celtics in this with a couple of strong finishes

  • The Celtics look just a little too gassed to finish off this game. They seemed to get a couple of stops at the end of the OT, but they couldn't get the loose ball

Fourth quarter

  • A back-and-forth quarter has kept the Memphis lead at 8.

  • Jaylen Brown is starting to take over again, scoring 5 quick points, which were followed by two Robert Williams baskets to cut the lead to 4

  • A Robert Williams block with about two minutes to play turned into a transition layup for Jeff Teague to tie the game

  • The Celtics had come all the way back to tie the game but after a Dillon Brooks jumper to put Memphis up two, Kyle Anderson cleanly stripped Marcus Smart and went in for an uncontested layup, giving Memphis a four point lead

  • Memphis missed two put-back that would have made it a 4-point game, and Marcus Smart found Daniel Theis for a dunk to tie the game with 7.3 left

Third quarter

  • The Grizzlies stormed out of the half on a 14-4 run, just attacking the rim over and over again. At first it was Jonas Valanciunas, and then it was Ja Morant. The Grizzlies are up to 58 points in the paint.

  • Ja Morant is an insane athlete, and his alley oop dunk in the middle of this run is one of the more ridiculous plays you'll see.

  • Boston responded nicely after getting down 9. A Grant Williams 3, Jaylen Brown's tough layup on a cut (and nice assist from Robert Williams), and Robert Williams tip-in made it a 2 point game

  • Jaylen Brown scored 9 points in about 4 minutes to help keep Boston close, but Morant has a hand in everything for the Grizzlies

Second quarter

  • Memphis is much more comfortable in this quarter. They are regularly attacking the paint in transition, and Desmond Bane is catching fire from 3. They went on an 11-4 run to take the lead

  • Jeff Teague started the game, presumably to keep the Payton Pritchard/Robert Williams combo together, and that's paying off for Boston

  • The C's are holding Memphis off by remaining hot from 3. They're 9-15  at the 6:53 mark

  • Three more buckets in the paint for Memphis. 38 of their 54 points have come in the paint.

  • Jeff Teague... yes, Jeff Teague... has fueled a late closing run by the Celtics to send the Celtics into the half up 5. He leads the Celtics with 13 points. Marcus Smart has 12, Daniel Theis has 10, and Jaylen Brown has 7

First quarter

  • The Celtics came out hitting their first 3 shots and opening on an 13-4 run

  • Jaylen Brown is doing it on both ends, scoring, passing, and defending well

  • Memphis is attacking and getting to the rim, cutting Boston's lead to 3

  • The Celtics ball movement has been really good, and they have 6 assists on 8 made field goals

  • It's going to be tough for the Celtics to keep up with Memphis, who really likes to run and are breaking their way towards closing this gap

  • An impressive quarter for the Celtics. Feels like they knew, without Tatum, they had to band together to make up the difference.

  • Celtics vs. Grizzlies spread: Grizzlies -2

  • Celtics vs. Grizzlies over-under: 220 points

  • Celtics vs. Grizzlies money line: Grizzlies -133, Celtics +113
