The NFL's trade deadline came and went league-wide with a whimper, with not much action. That includes the Patriots, who didn't deal off Stephon Gilmore or Joe Thuney for draft picks.
But in the end, they did make a minor deal — acquiring WR Isaiah Ford from the Dolphins for a conditional sixth-round pick — and were granted NT Isaiah Mack on waivers from the Titans.
What does the tape say about each player? Where will they play for the Patriots? Will they help?
WR Isaiah Ford
6-2, 194 pounds
4.61 in 40-yard dash
6.91 3-cone drill
POSITIVES
- Probably his best asset is that he shows a high football IQ on the field. Despite being in a new system this year, he runs routes with an obvious understanding of the entire scheme and sets up his routes with subtle moves (head fakes, delays, route stems) to make them more effective.
- Big, strong body and a good overall athlete. Has a natural shake and some flexibility in his body.
- Shows good body control in the air.
- Catches the ball naturally.
- Plays with a lot of enthusiasm.
NEGATIVES
- Didn't time very well, and plays slow on the field.
- Only an inside slot player and doesn't exhibit much explosion.
- YAC is limited.

POSITIVES
- Really big and strong body, especially in the lower body. Should be a player who is tough to move.
- Can hold up to double teams.
- Surprising pass rush for a big body.
NEGATIVES
- Sometimes loses focus and gets out of his gap while going after the ball.
- Doesn't love staying in his gap.
- Not a great all-around athlete. Very limited there.
