BSJ Daily Briefing 9.09.20: Celtics look to knock out Raptors, Red Sox split doubleheader

Your daily rundown of what’s going on with the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and Revolution, and what’s about to happen, for BSJ members only  …

• The Celtics will have a chance to take down the Raptors later tonight in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals — with Boston looking to land a knockout punch thanks to its focus on striking early and often against Toronto’s stout defense. 


• Marcus Smart, fresh off of being named to the All-Defensive First Team for the second consecutive season, will once again be crucial when it comes to shutting down the defending NBA champions. 


• Greg was busy on the airwaves Tuesday, posting his latest Patriots podcast while also appearing on Felger and Mazz. 


• The Red Sox split their doubleheader in Philly, dropping Game 1 in a disheartening walk-off loss before taking Game 2 thanks to some pop from Bobby Dalbec. Make it four straight games with a home run for the 25-year-old Dalbec. Not a bad start. 


• One of the (many) reasons the Bruins need to go all-in this offseason? They can’t keep asking a 35-year-old Patrice Bergeron to bail them out, night in and night out.
