PREGAME NOTES:

The Bruins could switch quite a few things around with such a short turnaround between Games 2 and 3 — as Bruce Cassidy noted Wednesday morning that Boston could roll with seven defensemen in order to keep its D corps fresh and manage minutes. Up front, Cassidy added that one of Boston’s forwards could be a game-time decision, but did not specify who. 

Jaroslav Halak will start in net for Boston, with the veteran netminder coming off of a 36-save performance in Game 2. 

Jon Cooper did not name a starter ahead of Wednesday’s matchup, but the assumption is that Andrei Vasilevskiy will once again get the call for Game 3. If not, Tampa Bay will turn to backup Curtis McElhinney. Once again, Tampa is going to be shorthanded on the blue line, with Ryan McDonagh set to miss his second game in a row. Tampa offset the loss of its top shutdown defenseman by rolling out seven D during Tuesday’s Game 2 win — a move that appeared to pay off.
