PREGAME NOTES:

After missing the previous three games, David Pastrnak will be tabbed as a game-time decision for Game 5 on Wednesday evening — with the winger set to take part in warmups. If given the green light, Pastrnak will be back on Boston’s top line, while Bruce Cassidy did not announce who would get bumped out of the lineup — although it would likely be either Anders Bjork or Jack Studnicka. 

With a win, Boston will advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. So far, the only team that has punched its ticket to the next round has been the Vegas Golden Knights — who bested the Blackhawks in five games. 

Hurricanes goalies Petr Mrazek and James Reimer have split the first four games of this series. Mrazek started Games 1 and 3; Reimer started Games 2 and 4. Carolina has not announced a starter for Game 5. After taking a heavy hit from Charlie McAvoy in Game 4, there stands a chance that Jordan Staal could be available for Wednesday’s game. The Hurricanes captain practiced Tuesday with his team, but Rod Brind’Amour was unsure if the veteran center would get the green light ahead of puck drop.
