Devers starts to dig out: Mitch Moreland may have hit the game-winning homer in the ninth for the walk-off win, but the slumping third baseman enjoyed a big game, too.
In the sixth inning, with the Red Sox trailing 3-2, Devers hammered a pitch into the center-field seats to tie the game. It was his second homer of the season and snapped an 0-for-12 skid, a stretch in which Devers was having difficulty just making contact with the ball. "This is something I've experienced in the past,'' he said of his recent struggles. "In 2018, I had these struggles. It's a part of baseball. There are stretches where I won't be able to hit the ball right. It's just the ebbs and flows of the game. I just try to keep a positive mindset and know that it will eventually even out.''
