Will be back with much more, but all in all, a really good first effort against a team that has already played a match in champions league. Far from a clean game, but the Revs stayed close and had their chances. Buchanan's header off the post will linger for a while. It was like fumbling on the goal line. Football tie-in!

SECOND HALF

Here we go...

48': Bou way high on a direct kick from distance. Impact has kept him quiet today. Expect that a lot.

57': Nice defensive play by Jones on a sloppy play in the Revs' box.

60': Great laser from Buksa goes wide.

64': Turner with a sensational save off a terrific build from Montreal. But he's shaken up.

72': Penilla taken down in the box but a good no call on replay.

Zahibo for Caldwell at halftime.
Mancienne for Bunbury in 66th minute.

73': And just like that, Zahibo scores off a great ball into the box by Bou. REVS 2, IMPACT 1.

Going to VAR... no goal offsides.

80': Sensational touch from Urruti for the go-ahead goal. Two-goal swing. REVS 1, IMPACT 2.

Notes from Tom DeBenedetto:

  • Henry Kessler, the rookie, will start with Andrew Farrell at center back. After what I saw in preseason, I'm not sure he's ready to hold off the dynamic nature of Montreal's attacking players.

  • Wilfried Zahibo starting the game on the bench after not hearing of nay injuries makes you wonder if he has shown poorly in training prior to the game, had an issue on the field, or if Bruce Arena just sees Diego Fagundez as a better matchup against this Montreal side.

  • Given the personnel, I think the formation is going to be a 4-4-2 on paper. Whether Gustavo Bou spends more time high with the other forward (Adam Buksa or Teal Bunbury, but likely Buksa) or sitting beneath the other forward will determine the difference between it being a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. However, there should be no doubt that Bou will be playing more underneath Buksa.

  • Alexander Büttner isn't on the bench, forget the 11. With Seth Sinovic on the injury report, we're unsure of who the true starter is at left back in 2020, but DeJuan Jones will open the season there.

  • No other surprises in the lineup, we knew that Carles Gil would be out with a foot injury.
