A few random thoughts while I wonder if Tom Brady is keeping track of all the media reports and just laughing ...
- The day between the bulk of the NFL HC/GM interviews on Tuesday and the first on-field workouts at the combine is kind of a news void so ... in steps TB12 to save the day! The stories were flying on Wednesday and Thursday morning. We gave you our lay of the land including why I wouldn't go diving off the Tobin yet.
- Included in that is some context on Jeff Darlington, because ESPN has made him and his access to all things Tom Brady part of the story every time they introduce him. You have to understand the good (best Big Story reporter I've ever been around) and the reasons why I wouldn't go burning your TB12 jersey quite yet. I think it's important, fair and balanced context. I've been through these big stories before (like Brett Favre, Ricky Williams, Nick Saban) and sometimes the reporters in the middle of it become the story without even knowing, and sometimes they're right. Sometimes they're on the wrong side. Jeff's usually right in Big Stories, but we'll see in the end. Team Brady has a lot more at stake than anyone else and that always wins in the end.
- Important workouts on Thursday night with tight ends and receivers for Patriots positions. I posted my running thoughts here.
- Bruins won and Krejci dropped the gloves!
- Buy out players for the Celtics?
- Hopefully, it's not the last we see of Steve Viner, but for now, he's taking a step back. Thought he did a great job providing some of the voice of the fan. Hopefully he'll pop in and out. He came to me, as many do, and asked to contribute in any way. While I don't mind doing that, I don't prefer it because people can have their agendas and it can get messy. But I like giving people a chance to show what they can do and hopefully that leads to more opportunities for them, either at BSJ or somewhere else. Don't be a stranger, Viner.
