BSJ Daily Briefing 01.21.20: Celtics destroy Lakers, Lebron; Brady and the Titans

Good afternoon!

A few random thoughts while I wonder how LeBron liked his trip down the Mass Pike from Springfield...

• The Celtics had us all worried as they lost games and didn't look all that competitive against some of the better teams in the league ... so then, of course, they went out and destroyed the Lakers at the Garden.


• The highlight was Jaylen Brown putting LeBron on a poster. Yeah, you hate to see that.


• The Celtics looked great. They were healthy, moving the ball and around, playing defense ... will it continue and can they do that consistently? We'll see.


• The more I watched the playoff games and the more I thought about what Tom Brady appears to want, how do Mike Vrabel and Jon Robinson not go after TB12 to give them an upgrade in a short title window and give them time to find the next guy? What, they're going to pay Ryan Tannehill? At the least, they have to use Brady to get Tannehill to take a below-market deal.


• But Vrabel should have Brady on a visit and see what happens.


• Expect to hear more Brady rumors — like his chat with Mark Davis over the weekend — to come out, and it's all by design. I still think Brady just wants to make the Patriots and the Krafts jealous so they step up. I still think that has the best odds.
