PREGAME NOTES:
- After getting knocked around on heavy hits from both Tom Wilson and T.J. Oshie during Monday’s slugfest against Washington, both Torey Krug and Charlie McAvoy will not play in Friday’s matchup against the Sabres. While McAvoy’s status should become a bit clearer this weekend, Krug is expected to miss three games at the minimum, with the puck-moving defenseman placed on IR due to an upper-body injury. Neither McAvoy or Krug had to enter the concussion protocol.
- With both skaters out, Steven Kampfer has been recalled from Providence and will skate with John Moore, while Zdeno Chara is back in the lineup after missing Monday’s matchup after undergoing a procedure on his jaw. Brandon Carlo will join Chara on Boston’s top D pairing.
- The Sabres have won five straight at home, outscoring opponents 25-12 during that stretch. The Sabres are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Bruins; including a 1-6-3 on home ice. Marcus Johansson will face off against the Bruins for the first time since signing with Buffalo back in July.
