Good morning!
A few random thoughts while I wonder how long this stupid Patriots video thing is going to last...
- I'm already tired of this Patriots video story. Yeah, they have a bad history. Yes, people love to hate the Patriots and blow things out of proportion. Sorry, I'm not covering the blow by blow on this thing, I don't care how mad the Bengals supposedly are.
- When the NFL finishes its investigation and doles out any punishment, then I'll care. There's no way the Patriots were taping the Bengals' signals from the press box. No way. A couple of morons — and I've heard two people may have already lost their jobs over this carelessness — totally forgot where they were and who they were working for. End of story.
- If there was purposeful illegal taping, then Ernie Adams — this is his area — needs to go and we need to move on.
- Enjoyed Saban-Belichick last night on HBO. Recommend it, but there wasn't a whole lot of new ground, especially for someone who's covered both coaches in the NFL. I did find the discussion about assistants-turned-HCs taking other assistants as line crossing. And some of the fault lies with the assistants moving laterally.
Belichick: "I'm happy for the people who've worked hard for me to get opportunities. I want to see them build their own program. When they try to tear down our program. That's kind of where the line, I feel gets crossed."
- It was interesting considering Eric Mangini but, especially, Brian Flores who took three Patriots assistants with him to Miami.
- Man, I didn't realize how much Nick Saban talks until he's next to Belichick. He never shuts up.
- Celtics face the Pacers for the first time since the playoffs.
- Bruins face the Caps and Braden Holtby again tonight.
- Gerrit Cole is going to get $1 million per start with the Yankees? Holy cow.
