BSJ Daily Briefing 11.07.19: Patriots head out for the long weekend, Celtics back in action

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if Bill Belichick can still get a round in on Nantucket...

• Patriots players closed up shop for the bye and won't be back at it until Monday.


• We took one last spin around my comments about Mohamed Sanu, and backed them up with actual evidence instead of, "He caught 10 passes for 81 yards, he was awesome!" Context matters. We go through that and explain it here. One contested catch for 4 yards does not a significant impact make. Jakobi Meyers could have done that.


• Plus, positional ratings. Surprised that the defensive line came out ok. Can't say the same for the linebackers not named Dont'a Hightower.


• Interesting discussion on the Celtics starting lineup when Jaylen Brown gets back.


• Celtics are in Charlotte tonight.


• Thought Zach Senyshyn brought something the other night ... and then he was sent back to Providence.


• Raiders and Chargers are on Thursday night football. A few Cliff Notes on the Raiders to aid your viewing:


• Center Rodney Hudson and old friend Trent Brown have been dealing with injuries and are questionable. When they're healthy, it arguably the best line in the NFL. If not, Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa could go off.


• RB Josh Jacobs and TE Darren Wallers are something else. Watch how much Jon Gruden gets all the TEs involved tonight. He's really dialing things up offensively, he's playing ball control and Derek Carr is finally buying in and not trying to be a hero. It's fun to watch and needed because...


• The Raiders' defense is not good. They can't get off the field. The middle of the defense is slow. The linebackers can't cover anyone. Not much of a pass rush. Yet they're in every game.
