LIVE COVERAGE:

9:46: Final: Bruins win it, 7-4. Bergeron adds an empty-netter goal for the hat trick. Boston is 8-1-2.

9:43: And now, 6-4. Bruins sloppy to close this one out.

9:41: Rangers strike on the power play with less than two minutes to go. 6-3.

9:31: Bergeron is at it again. That first line has put on an absolute clinic. 6-2.

9:29: Shame that such a dominant effort is going to be marred a bit by injuries — as Par Lindholm did not return to start the third with an upper-body injury.

9:24: Buchnevich gets one back for the Rangers. 5-2

9:15: Ho hum. Chara makes it 5-1.

8:36: Now its 4-1. Marchand's second of the night off a great feed from Coyle. Dominance right now.

8:25: Coyle takes a feed from McAvoy and buries his first of the year. 3-1 Boston.

8:10: And just 57 seconds later — Marchand dangles his way to a goal. 2-1 Bruins.

8:05: Bergeron ties things up just 11 seconds in.

8:03: Second period underway.

7:44: End First: Bruins trail, 1-0. A strong period for the Bruins, given the back-to-back slate. But Rangers with the lead.

7:30: Marchand to the box. Bruins back on the PK.

7:26: Rangers fail to get a SOG in the first 10 minutes — and then score with 9:41 left in the period. Haley gives the Rangers a 1-0 lead.

7:25: Rangers with zero shots on goal through the first 10 minutes.

7:24: Great PK work with Marchand.

7:18: Bruins kill it off.

7:14: Cehlarik to the sin bin. He's called for a hook.

7:13: No dice on the power play. Ritchie with a good look.

7:11: Bruins to the power play just 35 seconds in.

7:09: Puck dropped. Here are today's starters:

PREGAME NOTES:

  • A bruising win over the Blues has left its mark on the Bruins, as the B’s will be without two of its fourth liners for tonight’s game against the Rangers. Joakim Nordstrom will not play due to an infection issue, while Chris Wagner will sit out after blocking a blast from Alex Pietrangelo on a PK shift on Saturday. David Krejci will also not play, but Bruce Cassidy did note that the veteran center could be cleared for Tuesday against the Sharks.

  • With Boston in need of bodies, Cassidy said Sunday morning that the club will likely call up Peter Cehlarik from Providence for the game. The winger has scored six goals and recorded eight points over his first six games down the AHL this season. Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net for Boston.

  • This will stand as the first of 13 back-to-back slates for the Bruins this season, with Boston posting a record of 9-3-2 on the second leg of back-to-back contests in 2018-19.

  • While New York made some big additions this summer in Artemi Panarin, Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko, the Blueshirts are still a ways away from contending, especially when it comes to their blue line. Henrik Lundqvist will get the start on Sunday, with the netminder posting a 2-3-0 record this year with a 3.25 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
