BSJ Daily Briefing 10.24.19: Celtics, Walker off the mark in opener; Gordon gone, Bennett next for Patriots? taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder if the Celtics realized last night's game counted...

  • Well, that was a rough one for the Celtics in Philadelphia. Boston had a worse shooting night than any from last season. With some of the stinkers last year, that's saying something.

  • Kemba Walker had just 12 points on 4 of 18 shooting. Meanwhile, someone that rhymes with Iryie Krving went for 50 points in his debut with his new team. Awkward.

  • The Sixers weren't great either. But you can tell Benedict Al Horford makes a difference for that team. They actually have a grown-up in the room. Should make for a great season series.

  • Busy day down in Foxborough with Josh Gordon on IR and causing a stir on Instagram, and Michael Bennett sounding like he's not long for the team either. Things are never boring with the Patriots.

  • We covered a lot of ground in an Emergency Q&A.

  • Newcomers pitching in for the Bruins.

  • What's next for the Revs?

  • The Astros lost both games at home with Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander starting, and were thoroughly embarrassed last night. That's a long ways back.

  • Some might say those two games and a 16-6 combined score were karma calling.
