PREGAME NOTES:

Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net for the Bruins, continuing a rotation that has seen Halak and Tuukka Rask each play three games over Boston’s first six matchups of the regular season. Bruce Cassidy noted Monday morning that he expects Rask to gradually start making consecutive starts as the year progresses.

The only other change to the B’s lineup will be on the blue line, as Steven Kampfer will replace Connor Clifton and will skate on the third D pairing next to Matt Grzelcyk. Cassidy noted that Clifton is not sitting out due to injury or a drop in play — it’s more about just getting Kampfer some reps.

Someone’s going to have to blink between these two defense-first clubs, as Anaheim and Boston rank first and second in the NHL this season when it comes to goals against per game at 1.20 and 1.60, respectively.

The Ducks may not have too much firepower, but that might not even matter if John Gibson continues to play like this in net. The Anaheim goalie is  3-1-0 with a 1.26 goals-against average and .961 save percentage (124 saves on 129 shots) this season.
