Antonio Brown briefly met with reporters at his locker room this afternoon, marking the first time he's addressed the media with the Patriots.
Q: Is everything OK with you in the league so you can keep playing?
Brown: "I'm super grateful to be here, play for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. I've got a lot of the offense to learn and catch up, but I'm excited and grateful to be here and be apart of these guys."
Q: What's it been like working with Tom?
Brown: "It's been a tremendous honor. He's been here a long time, a lot of details, a lot of work ethic, great guy to be around, just inspire everyone here."
Q: How's it been to get used to everything?
Brown: "Well, it's football and I'm grateful to play football. Every time you walk in the door here, it's what's best for the team. Every time I walk in here I just want to make sure I'm preparing to give these guys my best."
Q: What have you heard from the league about your availability moving forward?
Brown: "I appreciate that question. I'm just here to focus on ball and go out there in the home stadium and help the team."
BSJ Analysis
Nothing super surprising here. The Patriots will likely make Brown available as little as possible to meet the league's media policy and keep him sticking his foot in his mouth.
Obviously someone, likely Bill Belichick assistant Berj Najarian, met with Brown and gave him talking points. Good sign that he's on the same page with the team for now. Of course, that can always change. This is guy who did and said whatever he wanted to in other places.
Brown's fit in the offense and with Brady is paramount. He's acknowledging that it's a work progress, which it's expected to be. Similar to other players, as long as he shows incremental improvement — especially with this early schedule — that's probably good enough.
