Final: Red Sox 6, Phillies 3 taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

The Red Sox ran their modest win streak to three straight with a 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, dealing another blow to the Phils' longshot playoff hopes.

Christian Vazquez homered twice -- the first one his first career grand slam -- to account for five of the six Red Sox runs. J.D. Martinez provided the other run with a sacrifice fly.

Rick Porcello, who had been belted for 12 runs in his previous two starts, rebounded nicely and allowed just two runs over five innings.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

3:18    Phils peck away, adding a run off Marcus Walden.

2:50   Back-to-back two-out singles by the Phillies produce a run. Phils have first-and-third now.

2:25  The Red Sox have done a good job of controlling Bryce Harper for the series. Two strikeouts and a single last night to go along with an intentional walk and two strikeouts -- both called -- today.

2:23   The throw wasn't in time to catch J.T. Realmuto at first base, but Xander Bogaerts has gotten a lot better on that play in the hole this season -- complete with the "jump'' throw.

2:10    Rafael Devers runs a long way -- and then almost overruns -- a foul pop-up by Logan Morrison but makes the catch.

2:05  Christian Vazquez clears the bases with a homer that just clears the wall for his first career grand slam. That's his 20th homer of the year.

1:43   Home runs have been an issue for Rick Porcello and a four-seamer left up in the zone to Rhys Hoskins, wh0 smashes it out to left. That's 31 homers allowed by Porcello this season.

1:23  Red Sox load the bases with no out, but produce just one run.

1:18 Based loaded sacrifice fly by J.D. Martinez scores Andrew Benintendi. Second straight run, dating back to last night, to score via the sac fly.
