Good morning!
A few random thoughts while I wonder what Bill Belichick really thinks about Matt Patricia's ATV...
- Patriots wrapped up the heavy lifting in their joint sessions with the Lions on Tuesday ahead of Thursday night's exhibition opener. It was a much more competitive practice and both sides of the ball got tested.
- My lingering thought: after watching Matthew Stafford move the ball well with a whole host of weapons, the Patriots are really dealing in the minor leagues offensively right now. The Patriots need to get Julian Edelman back and then hope to get contributions from the injured (Demaryius Thomas, Cam Meredith) and suspended (Josh Gordon) and then Tom Brady might have something decent to work with.
- With debate about his job status going on, not exactly a great look for Dave Dombrowski that Andrew Cashner was a launching pad in a bad loss to the Royals.
- So the Celtics are Team USA now? I like the sound of that.
- My take on the Tom Brady house stuff ... I don't think this timing is coincidental. I think Brady is a little miffed he didn't get what he wanted in the contract and is throwing a little bit of a tantrum, which he does from time to time. But it always smoothes out, usually when the team starts playing well. Yes, I think he's back next season.
