Final, Game 2 - Yankees 6, Red Sox 4

The misery continues for the Red Sox, who dropped a 6-4 decision to the New York Yankees Saturday night, swept in a day-night doubleheader and extending their losing streak to seven straight.

Matt Barnes came into a tie game in the seventh inning, faced six hitters and retired only one hitter. The big blow was an opposite-field, two-run single by Mike Tauchman.

Rafael Devers stroked a long two-run homer and Mookie Betts delivered a two-run single to account for the Red Sox' four runs.

SEASON SERIES TO DATE: NY 9-4

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

10:52  It's been a while since Devers had an at-bat that bad - fell behind 0-and-2, then swung at a pitch in the dirt, leaving the bases loaded.

10:21   Two-run single to left by Mike Tauchman and the Yankees have re-taken the lead. More bullpen failure for the Red Sox.

10:18  Huge spot here for Barnes, who has loaded the bases with a leadoff double and two walks.

9:08   Torres strikes again, hammering the fourth pitch by Josh Taylor, a four-seamer, to left. That's two homers tonight for Torres and three in the series.

9:03   Even the outs are loud for Benintendi these days. Screaming liner to first, resulting in an inning-ending double play.

8:37   Big two-out, two-run single from Mookie Betts after Michael Chavis and Marco Hernandez fail to get the run in with a baserunner at third and no out.

8:23  Big inning for the Yankees, who get a two-run double from Cameron Maybin on a ball pulled down the line, eluding the dive of Devers.

8:12  Gleyber Torres, who hit a grand slam Friday night, contributes a solo shot to cut the Red Sox' lead in half.

8:01  got a pitch right in his wheelhouse and drove it deep to right, scoring Marco Hernandez ahead of him. First lead for the Sox since the first inning Friday night.

7:55 Impressive work from Brian Johnson, who has a bases-loaded jam and D.J. LeMahieu -- the toughest out in the league with RISP and two outs -- and gets him on a lineout to right field.
