FOXBOROUGH — The first big surprise of camp happened early as Tom Brady came out late to practice and, when he did show, he didn't have any pads on.
Not sure I remember him doing this in recent memory.
Brady is watching on the side. He's in a navy blue cutoff hoodie and shorts. He's still hydrating big time.
My take on this:
- I just think this is vet rest. According to sources, Brady's family is here or at least was due to be here. They would not have if they knew Brady was getting the day off.
- Remember, Brady went through a stretch last training camp where he barely threw at all.
- From that piece: "Let’s just go with this: In nine days since July 29, Brady has had two moderate throwing days (Aug. 1 and 2). That’s it. July 30 was the stadium practice, which was a glorified walkthrough. July 31 was an off day before two days of practice. Then Brady was given veteran rest on Friday and Saturday. The team had two off days on Sunday and Monday, where there was no practice. And then Tuesday was another light day (seven reps). Update: Now that we know today’s practice is a walkthrough, Brady’s schedule is even more strange. Assuming he’s a full go at the next practice on Saturday, Brady will have two days of reps in eight days.
- Patriots must have liked what they saw there. I mean, the guy is going to be 42 pretty soon.
- Deatrich Wise is back.
- Don't see Isaiah Wynn. Not a shock come back from major surgery.
