Good morning!
A few random thoughts while I wonder who had the last, great mullet for the Red Sox ...
- Andrew Cashner makes his Red Sox debut tonight against the Blue Jays. If he has 75 percent of the impact Nathan Eovaldi had last season after being acquired, the Red Sox are in good shape.
- Of course, they always are against the Jays and Orioles. It's the other teams where Boston needs to make up ground.
- Another shaky bullpen outing.
- I'm going to miss Eduardo Nunez, but we could all see this coming. He's was totally ineffective this season.
- Man, it's fun to watch a player like Xander Bogaerts fully come into his own this season. And he's the true leader of the Red Sox.
- The British Open starts early on Thursday. Rory McIlroy is the overwhelming favorite since it's his home country (Northern Ireland) and he set the course record at Royal Portrush (61) when he was 16.
- Brooks Koepka will be up there, because he always is. Tommy Fleetwood should have a good week, but I'd keep an eye on Jordan Spieth. He's had quite the turnaround this season and may be peaking. I like Dustin Johnson over Tiger Woods.
