Final: Dodgers 7, Red Sox 4 (12)

The Los Angeles Dodgers erupted for three runs in the top of the 12th inning to earn a 7-4 victory over the Red Sox and take the interleague series between the teams two to one.

Hector Velazquez, working for the third straight day, walked in the go-ahead run then gave up a single to center and a fielder's choice, resulting in two more runs.

The Sox had their chances in the late innings, with a runner in scoring position in the ninth, tenth and 11th. But the Sox couldn't come up with the timely hit to earn a walk-off win.

Trailing 4-2 in the eighth, the Sox used back-to-back homers from Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez to tie the game.

A.J. Pollock knocked in the first four runs for the Dodgers with a three-run homer in the first and a run-scoring single in the fifth.

David Price lasted just five innings after his pitch count rocketed to 113.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

11:54   Poor baserunning by Jackie Bradley Jr., who attempts to advance from second to third on a ball hit in front of him to shortstop. Sox later load the bases, but the threat ends when Martinez hits into an inning-ending force out at second.

11:46   On-the-money throw from Andrew Benintendi to cut down Alex Verdugo the go-ahead run at the plate. Quite the game.

10:55  Huge missed opportunity for the Red Sox, who had the potential winning run on second base with one out, but can't push the go-ahead run across as Devers lines out and Bogaerts swings through a 95 mph cutter.

10:15  For Bogaerts, that was his third homer in the last three games; for Martinez, it was his first since June 30.

10:12  Back-to-back homers off Pedro Baez -- Xander Bogaerts, then J.D. Martinez -- and the Sox have tied it here in the eighth.

9:58  Red Sox strand a runner in scoring position -- they had two hits out of the infield since the first inning against Ryu.

9:32   Josh Taylor continues to be a nice surprise for the Red Sox -- scoreless, 1-2-3 inning. That was his sixth straight scoreless appearance.

8:44  The Sox collected five hits in the first seven at-bats in the first inning against Ryu; since then, they don't have a baserunner, with the lefty retiring 10 in a row.
