Final: Red Sox 8, Yankees 5 taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

David Price earned his first win at Yankee Stadium as a member of the Red Sox, ending the team's four-game losing streak and giving the Sox their first win over the Yankees this season, 8-5.

Price pitched 6.1 innings and allowed just two runs on six hits.

The Sox got homers solo homers from J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts in the early innings. They then tacked on multiple runs in both the seventh and eighth.

The Yankees made things somewhat interesting with three runs off Matt Barnes as heavy rain fell in the bottom of the eighth and Barnes had difficulty gripping the ball.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

9:53   The Sox are going AT Frazier, the way you might with someone on the basketball court. A blooper spins away from him as he takes the wrong ankle to the ball hit by Michael Chavis, scoring another run.

9:29  That's all for Price, who allowed two ground ball singles sandwiched around an out in the seventh. He leaves two on for Heath Hembree,, but it's his best start in New York while wearing a Red Sox uniform in three-plus seasons.

9:06  With the infield in, Brock Holt hits a soft blooper to the edge of the outfield grass, scoring a run

9:04 Clint Frazier plays a single into three bases, getting caught in-between on the hop off a line drive by Nunez. Scores Vazquez and allows Nunez to reach third.

8:44  Andrew Benintendi is among the most efficient base stealers. He was 7-for-8 in attempts this season but gets thrown out at third there as part of a throw-'em-out, strike-'em-out inning-ending double play.

8:27  Red Sox have had their issues with executing rundowns of late, but that one was handled well, cutting down Aaron Hicks between third and home for the third out.

8:10  All of a sudden, the Yankees are making consistent, hard contact against Price. Solo homer and two sharp singles.

8:06  First baserunner for the Yankees is a solo homer by Luke Voit, on a pitch from Price that looked like the one that Sabathia threw to Martinez.

7:56  Xander Bogaerts is scalding hot --  third homer in his last four games and five in his last 12. And he's not hit Sabathia well in the past, but this hot, it doesn't matter.

7:50  P rice operating at peak efficiency, relying heavily on his changeup and cutter in the early going. Nine up, nine down.

7:29  Run-scoring single by Eduardo Nunez scores Christian Vazquez, but Nunez is thrown out when the Yankees cut the throw from the outfield and Nunez is hung up between first and second.

7:20 Good start for David Price, who can use all the confidence-building he can get in this ballpark.

7:11 J.D. Martinez turns on a cutter in from CC Sabathia and hits it out to left.
