Bedard's Daily Briefing 05.13.19: Bruins, Red Sox roll through the weekend

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I wonder what Kyrie and the Celtics are thinking right now...

• The Bruins took Game 2 against the Hurricanes in a rout. It was 6-0 at one point, which meant the Bruins had reeled off 10 unanswered goals since the start of the third period of Game 1.


• Now the scene shifts to the Land of Sweet Tea when the Bruins take off this afternoon.


• Hard to have much hope for Carolina, but it has been here before (they dropped the first two at Washington) and found a way to win. But the Hurricanes weren't pounded like this before.


• You almost feel bad for the Hurricanes in the sense that they try so hard early, but then the Bruins decide to flip a switch and the goals come easy for them. Everything seems hard for the Hurricanes at this point.


• And now Petr Mrazek can't stop anything in goal. And then there's Tuukka Rask, just cruising (when he stays in the net).


• Feels like the Hurricanes have to sweep at home to have a chance. You'll hear a lot about the atmosphere, but the Bruins had little problem in a similar setting in Columbus.


• The Hurricanes are better than this ... but the Bruins look like they're too good.


• Amazing what happens when the team that owned you last year (Tampa Bay), and the one that has owned you for years (Washington) get knocked out by someone else.


• Grizz was the hero in this one.


• But overall, Don Sweeney looks like a genius, and Bruce Cassidy is channeling Alex Cora from last year.


• On the diamond, the Red Sox are starting to look like the team we all remember. You could say they're beating bad teams ... but they weren't even doing that to start the season.


• The Celtics' storyline will not stop anytime soon.


• Tall receivers dot the Patriots' roster. Why?


• What a long, strange week for the Revs.
