Final: Red Sox 9, White Sox 2 taken at BSJ Headquarters (Red Sox)

The Red Sox steamrolled the Chicago White Sox 9-2, picking up their third straight win and sixth in the last seven games.

With the game tied 2-2 in the eighth inning, the Sox erupted for another big inning, scoring seven times including four on a grand slam by Xander Bogaerts. Mitch Moreland added two RBI with run-scoring singles in the second and eighth innings.

Rick Porcello allowed just two runs over six innings, though he didn't factor in the decision.

IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:

5:08  Xander Bogaerts, who hit three grand slams last season, hits his first one this season and this one is officially a laugher. Bogaerts once again shows his ability to handle pitches in.

5:03  White Sox gift-wrapping this one in the eighth: two errors, three walks.

4:40 After a leadoff walk, Brandon Workman retires the next three hitters. Opposing batter are now 2-for-46.

4:14 Changeup from Porcello leaks back over the middle and Jose Abreu hits it out to left. Second homer off Porcello in the last two innings after he had allowed two homers in his previous four starts combined.

4:07 Even though Pearce broke out a bit with two hits on Saturday night, still not locked in. Lots of pitches in that at-bat right over the heart of the plate and couldn't do anything with those pitches.

3:55  Two-seamer from Martinez thrown right into Ryan Cordell's hot zone -- down and away -- and he drives it over the fence in center to cut the Red Sox' lead in half and end Porcello's scoreless streak at 15.2 innings.

3:46 Martinez's approach is so impressive. Seems like pitchers can't come in on him because he's capable of unleashing that inside-out swing and hitting the ball the other way. Scores Bradley from second.

3:36 Porcello works out of trouble after allowing a leadoff single. His shutout string has reached 15 straight innings.

3:07 Porcello's been a little more efficient the last two innings. After needing 24 pitches to get through the first, he's thrown just 30 over the last two

3:01 That's eight hits for Andrew Benintendi in this series.

2:53 Coming into today, the Sox had allowed just five stolen bases in the previous 22 games. But already, White Sox have two successful steals in the first two innings.

2:44 A bit of inexperience showing there for Michael Chavis, who drifts back on a catchable popup in shallow center, but doesn't track it well enough at the end to make the catch. Bloop single drops in for Tim Anderson.

2:39 Mitch Moreland snaps an 0-for-9 with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Devers from third base.
