Final: FC Cincinnati 2, Revolution 0 - New England can't get anything going against bunkered-in FCC defense taken at Gillette Stadium (Revolution)

WHO: FC Cincinnati at Revolution
WHEN: Sunday, March 24, 4 p.m.
WHERE: Gillette Stadium
TV/RADIO: NBC Sports Boston/WBZ-FM 98.5/1260 AM (Portuguese)
WHAT’S UP: Match Day 4 sees the Revs hosting the newest entrant in Major League Soccer, and with only one point in their first three matches obtained, you can bet it’s three points or bust. But Cincinnati has already gained four points, including three last Sunday with a 3-0 win over MLS Cup Finalist Portland.

Sean here at Gillette, where it was 59 degrees and gorgeous. It's clouding up a bit. Your starting XIs and benches are live, and your match notes are below.

The match is underway.

FC Cincinnati get us started. The Revs, they'll head to the Banner End in the home Navy Blues. FC Cincinnati headed to The Fort in the traveling whites. Periodic updates to follow. Enjoy the match.

2' First shot of the day is by FCC, and Lamah boots it to Walpole.

4' Another boomer from distance by Lamah. Wide.

5' First try into the box is by Penilla, Richey handles it. Good stuff by Gil to keep the defenders off him.

8' Saief with a shot, puts Knighton into a dive, saved... was headed wide of the post.

11' Garza with a volley from the flank, into Knighton's grasps.

14' Delamea with a well-timed tackle on Ledesma inside the box. Close.

15' Revs having difficulty maintaining possession getting into the attacking third. Revs getting bullied off the ball in tight quarters.

20' Penilla with a service into the area, Bunbury with a solid run gets a boot on it, knocks it askew. Good attempt, good ideas.

21' First corner for the Revs after Gil finds Penilla.... good hold-up play by Bunbury leads to a service by Gil, but Zahibo blazes wide.

23' Two consecutive corners. Second one cleared.

24' Good defending by the Revs after some good football between Ledesma and Manneh.

32' Ledesma with a little dance at the top of the semi circle and a drive... wide. Nothing on target yet.

34' Castillo with a little 1-2 with Luis Caicedo, but Lasso deflects it out of trouble. Excellent combination play, and it leads to a corner..... which is cleared.

38' Manneh draws a foul and earned a free kick.... Mancienne with the foul. Kick will be at the top of the arc, some 23 yards away.

40' Ledesma left foots it, and Knighton gets a big paw on it. Corner.... Ledesma with a try sees Knighton come out to punch, ball falls to Deplagne... but Deplagne blazes over.

42' Lamah puts it into the side netting.

43' A little closer this time by Ledesma, just over the bar.

44' GOAL CINCINNATI, and it's Kekuta Manneh with the ball. Saief with the assist. Manneh had taken that ball away from Zahibo to get the counter started. 1-0 to the Blue and Orange right before the half.

45' Two minutes minimum added on.

HALF

Revs with 51 percent (50.6) of the ball in the first half, have connected on one additional pass (202-201). It feels like FCC is bunkering in in that defending third, which is really flummoxing The Boys In Blue. Case in point, 4 corners for New England. Cincy really closing down.

Second half underway. Revs get us started, and they'll head toward The Fort.

47' Cincinnati just carved the defending on that sequence.

50' Penilla goes to Deplagne's left side, beats him, services right to Richey. Not a bad idea.

51' Delamea with a sliding stop after a poke, and Delamea shouts at someone.

52' Some good touches by the Revs, and Gil volleys to Fagundez, who heads wide.

52' Delamea is cautioned for a foul on Manneh.... Toni ran 40 yards to make that play.

53' Caldwell on for Zahibo. First sub for the Revs.... free kick by Ledesma is headed over the bar.

57' Nifty try by Bye, but the B/O clear it. Great run by Bye, great release by Gil.

60' Penilla has a go, looking for the Upper 90...... wide.

61' Two shots on target, two saves by Richey. He saved Gil first, then Fagundez. Best chances for New England so far.

64' Lamah with a shot after Saief started a rather solid counter after dispossessing Luis Caicedo.

65' GOAL CINCINNATI, and it's Kenny Saief. Ledesma tracked down the loose ball and served it back in. It went to Manneh, who one-touched it to Saief. He one-timed it in, and it's 2-0 to the MLS new boys.

66' Juan Fernando Caicedo on for Teal Bunbury. Second sub. His Gillette debut.

67' Penilla's shot is blocked. He wheeled toward the penalty spot.
