PREGAME NOTES
The Bruins will look to get back on track after having their 19-game point streak snapped on Sunday against the Penguins. Handed their first regulation loss since Jan. 19, the B’s will now continue their road trip with a matchup against the Blue Jackets.
While the Blue Jackets went all in at the trade deadline by opting to keep pending free agents like Artemi Panarin and Sergei Bobrovsky while dealing for other UFAs like Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel, they don’t have much to show for it — as Columbus has been shut out in three of its last six games. Currently, the Jackets are still in the playoff picture, but are tied with the Canadiens for the second Wild Card spot with 79 points.
A couple of lineup changes for the Bruins, with Charlie Coyle slotting up into a top-six role on David Krejci’s line after Lee Stempniak was sent back down to Providence. Trent Frederic, recalled from the AHL this morning, will center a third line with David Backes and Joakim Nordstrom, while Steven Kampfer will make his first start since Dec. 23 in place of Matt Grzelcyk, who’s currently undergoing MRI tests back in Boston on his arm. Tuukka Rask will get the start in net, with the goalie still without a regulation loss since Dec. 23.
Former Bruins Adam McQuaid and Riley Nash will get to face off against their former team, with McQuaid standing as another deadline pickup for Columbus.
