PREGAME NOTES:

  • After posting a pair of regulation wins over the Capitals and Islanders this week, the B’s will look to make it three wins in a row Wednesday on the second leg of a back-to-back. Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net for the first time since Jan. 29 — with the B’s goalie looking to get back on track after closing out January with 1-3-1 record and an .862 save percentage.

  • Danton Heinen will slot back in the lineup after sitting out the previous two games as a scratch. He will replace David Backes on Trent Frederic's line — a group that has seen limited minutes for most of the past week.

  • It will be interesting to see if Boston’s second line of David Krejci, Jake DeBrusk and Peter Cehlarik can keep it rolling after Cehlarik lit the lamp in Tuesday’s win over the Islanders. That tally stood as the trio’s first goal as a unit out on the ice since Jan. 18 against the Blues.

  • With a win tonight and a loss for the Maple Leafs, the Bruins have a chance to move into a tie for second place in the Atlantic with Toronto with 67 points on the year. The Leafs will take on the Senators later tonight.

  • This will be the second of three meetings between the Bruins and Rangers this season, with the Blueshirts posting a 3-2 win over Boston back on Jan. 19 at TD Garden. New York has earned at least one point in five of the last seven games (4-2-1) and in six of the last nine games (5-3-1).

  • The Rangers have allowed two goals or fewer in eight of their last nine games against the Bruins and have won all eight games when allowing two or fewer goals. Each of New York’s last six games have been decided by a single goal.
