9:44: Pastrnak brings the puck all the way to the empty net — and leaves it at the crease for Bergeron to knock home. Respect. Bruins lead, 3-1, off of Bergeron's second goal of the night.
9:39: B's make the huge kill. Rask with three great stops.
9:35: Two minutes to go in the PK. Rask with a great pad save on Eberle.
9:30: Bruins heading to the PK. Grzelcyk heads off for a slash. It's four minutes for both a trip and a slash.
9:22: Peter Cehlarik puts Boston ahead. 2-1 game with 13:26 left.
9:16: After a casual 5-minute review, play is ruled offsides. Still a 1-1 game.
9:11: Frederic loses a faceoff, Islanders are off to the races and Cal Clutterbuck fires one past Rask. 2-1 New York with 15:08 left. However, Bruins want to review the goal for offsides.
9:05: Bruins look awfully flat going into the third. At last three high-danger scoring chances for New York through the first two minutes of the stanza.
9:04: Third period underway.
8:45: End Second: Bruins and Islanders are tied, 1-1. SOG in favor of Boston, 19-18.
8:44: Lehner makes a great stop to deny Boston's go-ahead goal. He's been as advertised.
8:40: Jordan Eberle converts on the power play. / 1-1 game with 3:20 left in the second.
8:37: Wagner heads to the box. Islanders are a pain to play against. Chara and Lee battling down low.
8:32: Carlo out of the box. Both teams are 0-for-5 on the power play.
8:27: Brandon Carlo off for a trip.Islanders back on the power play.
8:13: Who else? Bergeron knocks home the rebound to open the scoring. Great initial stop by Lehner on Pastrnak.
8:11: Johnny Boychuk blocks a slap shot from Chara and takes a knee down on the ice. He eventually gets up and gets a cheer from the TD Garden crowd. That had to hurt.
8:08: Second period underway.
7:50: End First: Bruins and Islanders are scoreless. B's held possession, but an 0-for-3 showing on the power play seems destined to bite this team down the road. SOG in favor of Boston, 10-7.

7:42: B's head to the power play for the third time tonight. Kuraly hit with a crosscheck.

7:34: Nelson is out of the box, but now Pulock heads off for a slash. Good stuff from Krejci in the offensive zone.

7:15: TD Garden wi-fi picked a great time to crap out. Anyway, Patriots are here, Bergeron just got his standing O for his 1,000th game, and the Bruins are getting outshot, 5-0, through four minutes.

- Patrice Bergeron will be the man of the hour on Tuesday, as the veteran center will play in his 1,000th career game with the B’s. Only four other Bruins have played in 1,000 career games with Boston — Ray Bourque (1518), Johnny Bucyk (1436), Don Sweeney (1052) and Wayne Cashman (1027). - Just a few hours removed from the Patriots’ Super Bowl parade, members of the Patriots will be in attendance for the start of Tuesday’s matchup against the Islanders.
- No lineup changes from Sunday’s win over the Capitals for the Bruins, while Tuukka Rask will once again get the start in net. Jaroslav Halak will start the second leg of the back-to-back tomorrow on the road against the Rangers.
- Despite losing their franchise player in John Tavares this summer, the Islanders have stormed out as the NHL’s biggest surprise under the leadership of Barry Trotz — standing alone at the top spot of the Metropolitan Division with a record of 16-3-2 since mid-December.
- While Mathew Barzal (46 points) has led the way up front for the Islanders, the biggest turnaround has come on the defensive end for New York, as goalie Robin Lehner leads the NHL in both goals against average (2.02) and save percentage (.932).
