BSJ Daily Briefing 01.22.19: Pats-Chiefs aftermath, NFL investigating laser pointed at Brady, C's win fourth straight taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Adam Richins/Boston Sports Journal)

Good Morning! A few scattered thoughts while hoping Bedard and Price survive the drive back to Boston from Charlotte after the arctic weather doomed their connection

  • Well, as if the Pats' win on Sunday night was not impressive enough, it appears one cameraman uncovered a laser pointer that was used on Tom Brady at points during the game in Kansas City. Have a look:

  • The NFL is reportedly investigating this situation and the last time it happened in 2014, a fan in Detroit got banned and faced criminal charges.

  • Lots of complaining about the overtime rules in the aftermath of the two games but don't count Andy Reid as one of them to his credit. When asked about the procedures on Monday, he didn't take the bait. “I’ve sat in on a few of those meetings,” Reid said of the overtime rules. “They go back and forth. It’s what the league came up with, and I support it. I sure would’ve liked to have had another crack at it though.”

  • We had tremendous wall-to-wall coverage here on the site between Greg and Chris on Monday as the guys stayed up all night to churn out terrific columns. Make sure you check those out if you have missed anything.

  • How happy must the NFL be that the Pats-Chiefs game was an instant classic? Otherwise, all of the attention on Monday would have been on one of the biggest officiating gaffes in NFL playoff history for the Saints-Rams game?

  • C's won their fourth straight game on Monday night and ninth straight at the TD Garden. Most of the buzz though was still about the Pats, who even Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was raving about. "You can’t even write a script for that," he said of the game. "You get into the last two minutes and watch greatness and excellence like that, it seems like you’re watching a rerun to a movie under the highest stakes, pressure, all those things. I just enjoyed watching the sideline when they showed a picture of him and it just looked like he was Buddha on the mountaintop in zen getting ready for his next push. I can’t say I was rooting for them, but you respect it. Man, it’s incredible what he’s doing. It’s up there with what anyone’s accomplished from the team standpoint."

  • Hall of Fame class for the MLB will be announced tonight at 6 p.m.
