Later today, the MLS Combine will close following two additional games (10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.), a final chance for the college seniors to show what they can do in front of front office staff and coaches before Friday's SuperDraft.
After taking a look at the offensive- and defensive-minded players on Monday and Tuesday, let’s take our final gander at eligible players, this time with the goalkeepers. This will be a quick look-see, as only a few had film online.
We’ll follow up this afternoon with a final look at the Combine.
GOALKEEPERS
Colin Miller, Providence
The lone local keeper of the bunch. Miller has good awareness in the box, solid size (6-foot-3, 190 pounds), lift, and length. He charges off the line with confidence and has solid distribution.
Luis Barraza, Marquette
He’s 6-foot-2 and has controlled distribution with some solid reflexes. He has good command in the box, and much like Miller, charges off his line confidently. One thing I liked about his film was that he dove and caught the ball regularly for saves — and didn’t let up many second chances.
Jimmy Hague, Michigan State
We didn’t see much in his film, save his command in the box and coming off his line confidently.
Dayne St. Clair, Maryland/Generation Adidas player
St. Clair had one mistake on Saturday that led to a goal, but we’re not going to let one mistake dissuade us. St. Clair has solid lift and great vision. He showed great hands in the film; not so much last Saturday. We’ll check him out Wednesday morning.
Ben Lundt, Akron
We’ve said tall German the last couple of days, but Lundt… wowsa. At 6-foot-6, Lundt has superior length, he reads the attack well, has superb reflexes (when he makes a diving save, he is back on his feet within heartbeats), and can punt about 60 yards.
Rashid Nuhu, Fordham
Nuhu, from Ghana, has good awareness and vision, and has some athleticism that can’t be ignored. We also liked the way he took a penalty against Duke University a few years ago: strong and confident, and beat his opposite easily.
James Pyle from UNC and Lenny Wilson of St. John’s did not have a film online.
