PREGAME NOTES:
- The B’s are coming off of a frustrating loss on Friday, coming up short in a 5-3 final to the Penguins despite holding the edge in attempts (64-32), shots on goal (42-23) and scoring chances (32-19) during five-on-five play. Since Dec. 1, the Bruins have held the edge in 5v5 attempts in five games, but their record is only 1-4 in those tilts.
- One interesting matchup to follow is the play of Boston’s fourth line after Chris Wagner and Co. put together a monstrous effort against Pittsburgh. The Krejci line is expected to lead the way, but that checking line was a force on the forecheck in its last outing.
- No other expected lineup changes for the B”s barring a last-minute switch, with Tuukka Rask set to start in net. The B’s goalie is 4-2-2 with a .930 save percentage in his last eight games, while posting a 13-6-1 record and a .932 save percentage in 22 career games against Buffalo.
- Stacked with plenty of young talent, the Sabres have managed to put it all together so far this season — standing as one of the biggest surprises in the NHL with a 19-9-5 record.
- The Sabres are 12-3-3 in their past 18 games, with North Chelmsford native Jack Eichel leading the way with 41 points in 33 games for Buffalo. Rasmus Dahlin, top pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, posted a career-high three points for Buffalo in Saturday’s shootout loss to the Capitals.
