LAS VEGAS -- Having sent out word in early November that it might be untenable to again carry three catchers on the major league roster for the entire year, the Red Sox have been fielding offers from teams about the trio.
"We have talked to clubs about them, yes,'' said Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. "There's more big-name catchers out there and teams might be talking about them first. But yes, there's been interest in our guys. Our philosophy is the same: it's hard to carry three on the big league club. None of them has options left. But we're also not going to give them away to give them away. We'll see where it takes us.''
The Sox don't have any preconceived notions about which two to keep and which one to keep.
"There's no consensus answer (within the organization about who to deal),'' said Dombrowski. "There are personal preferences. So we'd be open to talking about any of them.''
As the youngest and most versatile of the three, Blake Swihart might draw the most interest from other teams. Then again, the Sox might be reluctant to deal him away and watch him become an established everyday catcher elsewhere, and could keep him and deal away either Sandy Leon or Christian Vazquez.

The Sox lost lefty reliever Robby Scott on a waiver claim by the Cincinnati Reds. Scott, who had appeared in 57 games with the Sox in 2017, pitched in just nine games in 2018.
