In our continuing quest to go above and beyond for the BSJ subscribers, we wanted to make this week's edition of the big board a little more fun. To that end, we added a couple of new elements: one, we have a question for each team as the final dash to the playoffs begin. And two, we added one thing we like about all 32 teams. Believe me, in some cases, it wasn't easy, but we found at least one positive about the state of each franchise. Read on to find out how we did, and where your favorite team ended up.
1. Rams (11-1 — last week, No. 2)
What we like about them: Even when they aren’t playing their best football, they can still find ways to win, like they did Sunday against the Lions.
One big question: They clinched the division title. Great. Now, can they figure out a way to find that balance between staying aggressive the rest of the regular season and staying healthy for the playoffs?
This week: at Bears.
2. Saints (10-2 — last week, No. 1)
What we like about them: At home, that offense is borderline unstoppable.
One big question: Can they regain their mojo in time for the postseason after that Thursday night loss to the Cowboys in Dallas?
This week: at Bucs
3. Chiefs (10-2 — last week, No. 3)
What we like about them: Kansas City’s offense is a wagon right now — 37 points per game, good for best in the league. In a year dominated by offense, this group can score with anyone.
One big question: Will the defense be their downfall? The Chiefs are allowing 27.3 points per game, 27th in the league.
This week: vs. Ravens
4. Patriots (9-3 — last week, No. 4)
What we like about them: The defense is starting to round into form at the right time. New England has allowed 16 points per game the last five contests. When you have an offense like they have, it’s a good sign.
One big question: Can they overcome their late-season struggles in South Florida? Miami has won four of their last five home games against the Patriots since 2013.
This week: at Dolphins.
5. Chargers (9-3 — last week, No. 5)
What we like about them: Phillip Rivers is playing out of his mind right now. In his last six games, he’s completing 71 percent of his passes while throwing for an average of almost 300 yards per game and a passer rating of 116.1.
One big question: Are they capable of putting heat on New England and Kansas City? That Dec. 13 game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead will tell us an awful lot about whether they have championship character.
