- No lineup changes up front for the Black and Gold on Saturday — but the blue line will gain a big body back in Brandon Carlo, who has not played since Nov. 10 due to an upper-body injury. Carlo is expected to skate alongside Torey Krug, while Steven Kampfer will be scratched.
- Prior to his injury, Carlo had averaged close to 21 minutes of TOI over 16 games while logging plenty of reps on the penalty kill. With minutes eaters like Zdeno Chara and Kevan Miller out for the foreseeable future, look for Carlo and other veterans like John Moore to earn plenty of ice time.
- For the first time since the start of November, Tuukka Rask will earn back-to-back starts after a strong showing on Thursday against the Islanders. For more on Rask’s added workload, click here.
- Boston has more than held its own on home ice this season, posting a record of 9-2 at TD Garden this season — the top winning percentage for any NHL club at home this season. Meanwhile, the Red Wings have not won a game in Boston since Oct. 14, 2013 — a span of nine games.
- Even with their struggles at the Garden, the Red Wings have still managed to capture points in four of its last six games.
