Bedard's Daily Briefing 11.27.18: Celtics finally find right mix? Bruins play well in loss; Welcome newbies taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I try to figure out who's left to play defense for the Bruins ... is Glen Featherstone still available? ...

  • Gee willikers, look what happens when Brad Stevens finally starts Marcus Smart and keeps his Butler binky on the bench ... the Celtics cruise wire to wire in a very good victory on the road against the Pelicans.

  • I mean, no one saw that coming ... it wasn't like B-Robb and others weren't clamoring for it for weeks.

  • The Celtics were getting off to terrible starts, mostly due to defense and enthusiasm ... pretty obvious Smart could help solve the issue. Why did it take Stevens so long to make this move?

  • And B-Robb is absolutely right: Stevens should keep Smart in the lineup. If Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown and/or Gordon Hayward don't like it ... tough.

  • Another really good game for the Bruins up in Toronto that ultimately ended in defeat but they're still overachieving ... and they lost Kevan Miller again to injury.

  • Was worried about this team for a while, but this might be the best thing for them long-term. They went through similar injury issues last year and it helped, but I still don't think they're advancing very far in that conference without scoring help.

  • By the way, we'll have more Bruins coverage from last night ... with a snow storm hitting Toronto/Buffalo, Conor Ryan had to get out of town quickly last night after the game.

  • Price raises the possibility of the Steelers not making the playoffs ... he's not wrong. That is indeed a possibility.
