FOXBOROUGH -- Dwayne Allen and Rex Burkhead were the only two players missing from the start of Patriots' practice on Tuesday afternoon. On a wet and rainy day, the Patriots were in shells as prep continued for the Jets. Allen (knee) missed the tail end of the Titans' game because of an injury, while Burkhead is working his way back from a stint on injured reserve.

__________
One point of clarification when it comes to Burkhead -- we saw him in the locker room after practice. I asked him if he was available to talk, and he very politely said no. (Guys who are on IR are usually off limits to the media, but I figured I'd still ask.) He did say he was at practice after the start, and his absence wasn't injury-related, which certainly bodes well for his return early next month. One other thing -- the Patriots don't have to put out an injury report until Wednesday, so we won't know the official status of the likes of Allen, Rob Gronkowski and Shaq Mason until then.
