10:47: Final: Dallas wins in OT, 1-0.

10:42: We're heading to OT. Getting a point out of this one with this D corps is a major win, IMO. Tuukka Rask has been fantastic.

PREGAME NOTES

  • Friday will mark Tuukka Rask’s first game back in net after taking a three-day leave of absence from the team last weekend. He returned to the club on Tuesday after attending to a personal matter with his family. In his career against Dallas, Rask is 7-2-1 with a .931 save percentage over 10 games.

  • Rask isn’t going to have plenty of familiar faces in front of him Friday, as Boston will roll out a depleted D corps with an average age of 24.3 and just one of the team’s six starters on Opening Night. Zdeno Chara (lower body) and John Moore (lower body) are just the latest regulars to go down. In their place, Jakub Zboril and Connor Clifton will both make their NHL debut against Dallas.

  • For more on the state of Boston’s blue line, click here.

  • The lone lineup change in front will see Noel Acciari subbed in for Chris Wagner on the fourth line.

  • "It was a little bit of A - we took Noel out and his number doesn't look great, his stat line. But he's been a good, hard player for us,” Bruce Cassidy explained of the switch up front. “So he wasn't going to sit forever. B - we wanted to keep the third line intact and give them some reps and see if they can continue to defend well and then grow their offensive game. So it was going to be someone from that Kuraly line. It happened to be him. I don't like to speculate whether it will be a different guy on that line tomorrow or the next time. It's him tonight and we'll see how it goes."

  • The Stars, who are 1-2-2 in their last five games, will be without their top defenseman in John Klingberg, who will be out for over a month due to a hand injury.

  • Veteran center Jason Spezza is on the cusp of a major milestone, standing just one point away from 900 in his career.
