FOXBOROUGH -- It's a chilly Wednesday afternoon on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium. (It's a long way from the humidity of Jacksonville in September.) The Patriots gathered for their final practice prior to their bye week break this afternoon, and tight end Dwayne Allen (knee) was not spotted at the start of the workout. However, both tight end Rob Gronkowski and guard Shaq Mason were both present at the beginning of the session. Both Gronkowski and Mason missed last Sunday's game against the Titans.
So it sounds like we have an answer when it comes to the new No. 50. The Patriots have reportedly signed linebacker Ramon Humber, a 5-foot-11, 232-pounder who is in his 10th year in the league. The 31-year-old has played for the Colts, Saints and Bills. Primarily a special teamer, his best year came in 2017 with Buffalo when he had 83 tackles in 13 games. Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald was the first to report the news.
