LIVE COVERAGE

9:51: FINAL: Canucks 8, Bruins 5.

9:47: 5-9 Torey Krug drops the gloves with 6-3 Darren Archibald. Went about as well as you'd expect.

9:35: B's score on the power play. Danton Heinen tips home his first of the year.  8-5 game.

9:31: Hey, at least Elias Pettersson hasn't scored yet?

9:28: Woof. Virtanen scores and it's now 8-4 Bruins with 8:48 to go.

9:25: Oooooof. Rask goes out to play the puck, but his clear hits off a Canuck and Horvat scores into an open net. 7-4 Vancouver.

9:23: Pastrnak is brought down and the B's are heading out on a 5-on-3 for 35 seconds. 11:08 left in the third.

9:18: B's get another crack on the power play after Horvat is once again called for a penalty.

9:11: B's power play negated off a slash from Marchand. 4-on-4 hockey for 1:06.

9:09: B's heading back on the power play. Horvat called for a trip.

9:06: Third period underway.

8:51: Eight total goals in 20 minutes.

8:49: Who needs goaltending? Gudbranson's shot from the point beats Rask to give Vancouver a 6-4 lead at the end of 40 minutes.

8:45: Jake DeBrusk again - this time on the power play. His second goal of the night makes it a 5-4 game.

8:41: B's heading out on the power play after Horvat is set to the box. First PP stretch for the B's tonight.

8:36: Halak surrenders his fifth goal on Vancouver's 19th shot. He's pulled for Rask. Not great.

8:34: Loui Eriksson is out for revenge. His second of the game gives Vancouver a 4-3 lead.

8:30: Bruins back to the PK. Kampfer back to the sin bin.

8:27: DeBrusk dives for a loose puck, keeps it in the Canucks zone, and then tips home a shot from Krejci for his fourth goal of the season. 3-3 game. And with that tip-in by DeBrusk .... it's the first 5v5 goal from a Bruins forward not named Bergeron/Marchand/Pastrnak since Oct. 20.

8:22: Ben Hutton rips one from the point. 3-2 Canucks at 8:28.

8:21: Bergeron and Marchand came thiiiiiiis close to a 2-on-1 shorthanded score.

8:19: And now Vancouver heads back on the power play. Grzelcyk sent to the sin bin for a high stick.

8:18: Loui Eriksson ties it up. 2-2 game with 12:58 to go in the second.

8:16: B's kill it off.

8:15: Dangerous loose puck in the crease. Good play by Moore to fish it out and clear it out of danger.

8:14: Kampfer heads off for interference.

PREGAME NOTES:

  • Other than Halak in net, there are no lineup changes for the Bruins following their 2-1 win over Dallas on Monday. While Monday’s victory featured more of the same in terms of top-line scoring, Cassidy has mentioned numerous times that a number of stagnant lines took steps in the right direction on a night that saw Boston out-attempt Dallas by a staggering 61-29 margin. In particular, the dormant third line showed signs of breaking out — with Heinen-Backes-Bjork holding a 15-5 edge in attempts and 4-0 advantage in scoring chances during the 10 minutes of 5v5 TOI they had on Monday.

  • Urho Vaakanainen skated once again prior to Thursday’s practice, while there is still no timetable for Charlie McAvoy’s return from an upper-body injury. "He hasn’t been shut down specifically — we didn’t say, ‘Ok, he’s out for three weeks off the ice.’ It’s a matter of him feeling up to the next stage, which would be hopefully getting on the ice and skating,” Bruce Cassidy said. “That’s between him and the medical staff and him to make that determination. From there, it’s getting into practice and getting into game shape. Listen, I hope he’s on the ice tomorrow. But I don’t have much for you.”

  • While Brock Boeser will miss tonight’s game for a Vancouver squad that’s 3-0-1 in its last four games, the Canucks still have a major weapon up front in center Elias Pettersson, who has tallied 10 goals and 16 points through just 10 games. If he lights the lamp tonight, the 19-year-old skater will become just the fourth player since the 1920-21 season to score at least 11 goals through his first 11 games.

  • "I think, for us, as hockey fans, it's nice to see good young talent in the league,” Cassidy said of Pettersson. “Obviously we have to do what we need to do to shut him down. But it's good for the city of Vancouver, it's good for hockey when these young guys come in and get people excited. He's a good player, every team has theirs. He just happens to be a younger player. The last time he didn't play and (Bo) Horvat was very good against us."

  • Thursday will also mark the return of former Bruin and New Hampshire native Tim Schaller, while Braintree native Adam Gaudette will also return to TD Garden after winning the Hobey Baker Award with Northeastern last year.
