FOXBOROUGH — On a night where the Patriots’ offense occasionally struggled to find a rhythm, the defense that came up with a well-timed turnover for a second-half spark on the way to the 31-17 win.
After three quarters, the game was tied up at 17, and Green Bay was driving for what would have been a go-ahead score. Aaron Rodgers had steered the Packers’ offense to the New England 34-yard line, and with Rodgers’ third-quarter wizardry — he had just delivered a pair of hellacious throws to receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling — it looked like Green Bay was on the cusp of a second-half lead.
On the first play from scrimmage in the fourth, the Packers were sitting on first and 10. Packers’ running back Aaron Jones took the handoff from Rodgers, and burst through a hole on the left side of the line … but New England defensive tackle Lawrence Guy met Jones and knocked the ball loose. Cornerback Stephon Gilmore fell on the fumble, and the game was instantly changed.
The @Patriots force the fumble!
