LIVE COVERAGE

11:40: FINAL: Oilers win it, 3-2, 37 seconds into overtime. Draisaitl with the tally.

11:39: Bergeron-Marchand-McAvoy to start 3-on-3 for the Bruins in OT.

11:37: Bruins will get a point out of this. This one is going to overtime.

11:31: B's can't convert on the power play. Not a good stretch on special teams.

11:26: Backes gets tripped up. Bruins back to the power play with 5:23 to go.

11:19: The Bergeron line bails out the B's again. Pastrnak rips home a shot off a Marchand pass for his eighth goal of the season. 2-2 game.

11:14: Oilers make the Bruins pay on McAvoy's penalty. Nugent-Hopkins buries the puck to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead with 12:27 left.

11:09: Oilers back on the power play. McAvoy called for a hold.

11:02: Injury update: Kevan Miller will not return to tonight's game due to an upper-body injury.

11:00: Third period underway.

10:41: End Second: Bruins and Oilers are tied, 1-1. Oilers hold a 10-7 edge in shots this stanza.

10:35: Goals come just 1:07 apart in the second.

10:31: Oilers answer back right after, with Yamamoto beating Halak for his first career goal. Bad angle there from McAvoy.

10:28: Bruins lead, 1-0. Matt Grzelcyk with a fantastic seam pass to find David Krejci, who buries the shot past Talbot. Krejci was due for a one there.

10:25: Miller does a great job breaking up a 2-on-1 and knock the puck out of the crease.

10:24: Oilers kill the penalty. Still scoreless midway through the second.

10:19: Halak with a great stop on Lucic in the slot. Now B's head to the power play. Brad Marchand draws his second of the game.

10:15: McDavid nearly tips one past Halak.

10:09: Second period underway.

9:52: END FIRST: Bruins and Oilers are scoreless. SOG in favor of the Bruins, 11-5. Have to figure the chances are going to start getting cashed in by Boston soon with that relentless forecheck.

Danton Heinen looks much, much better after getting scratched the past two games, while the Bergeron line is buzzing once again.

David Backes was back out on the bench after taking that hit from Benning, but did not play another shift in the first. Will have to keep tabs on him.

9:51: Bruins with a couple of fantastic chances, with Nurse swiping the puck out of danger in the scrum.

9:48: David Backes is back on the Bruins' bench.

9:47: B's kill the Carlo penalty. Good stuff from Chara and Miller on that sequence.

9:42: Bruins with a 10-3 edge and shots and a strong forecheck to open this one, but Edmonton heads to the power play after a hold on Carlo.

9:36: Good play by Klefbom to disrupt another prime scoring chance from the Bergeron line.

9:31: B's can't convert on the power play. John Moore slots into the second power play unit with Backes out.

9:28: Bruins to the power play. Bergeron flips the puck into the Oilers' zone and Marchand gets a mini-breakaway. He fails to score but draws a penalty.

9:23: Danton Heinen looking much more engaged in the early going. Crashing the net, intercepting pucks, doing all the little things you saw from him last year.

9:21: Looks like the hit on Backes caught him high. No penalty called. Concerning stuff for a player with a history of concussion issues.

9:19: Benning with a big hit on Backes, who heads down the tunnel. He was doubled over before getting to the bench.

9:16: Good company for No. 33

PREGAME NOTES

  • Bruce Cassidy shuffled up his lines once again ahead of Thursday’s matchup, with Anders Bjork scratched and Danton Heinen returning at left wing on the second line with David Krejci and Joakim Nordstrom. More lineup notes here.

  • Jaroslav Halak will get the start in net, with the backup netminder looking to carry the momentum after a dominant start (2-0-0, .961 save percentage). In his career against the Oilers (15 GP), Halak is 9-3-2 with a .913 save percentage and 2.05 GAA.

  • While Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara will get extended reps against Connor McDavid, Boston’s checking line will also get a good look against the Oilers captain, with Joakim Nordstrom slotting down with Sean Kuraly and Noel Acciari in order to keep the dynamic center off balance and limit his time with the puck.

  • The Oilers, who have won two in a row, go as McDavid goes — with the center setting an NHL record by having a hand in each of Edmonton’s first nine goals of the season.

  • In other notes, Zdeno Chara will play his 900th game with the Bruins on Wednesday, becoming the sixth player in franchise history to reach that mark. The only players in front of him? Ray Bourque (1,518), John Bucyk (1,436), Don Sweeney (1,052), Wayne Cashman (1,027) and Patrice Bergeron (969).
