LaAdrian Waddle ready for a possible rematch with Khalil Mack

FOXBOROUGH — There was a ton of Khalil Mack talk Wednesday at Gillette Stadium. And while you’re taking a risk if you think about comparing Mack to Lawrence Taylor, there’s no mistaking where the Patriots stand when it comes to his prowess.



“He gets after everybody,” Bill Belichick said of the Raider-turned-Bear who has five sacks in five games this season. “He’s a very disruptive player. He turns it over on sacks, strip-sacks, fumbles, tipped balls, interceptions. He’s a really strong run player. He’s a good pass rusher. He’s got speed. He’s got power. He’s very aware and instinctive.

“He does more than sack the quarterback – he knocks the ball away from him, but he knocks it off running backs, too. He’s tough.”

Mack does occasionally line up on the other side — which means left tackle Trent Brown will be forced to deal with him as well. But he spends most of his time on the defensive left end, which means the right tackle will get the bulk of the work. And with Marcus Cannon — who suffered a concussion in Sunday’s win over the Chiefs — on the shelf Wednesday, it looks more and more like the stopping Mack will fall to right tackle LaAdrian Waddle.
