HOUSTON -- Major League Baseball again has a sign-stealing investigation underway.
A year ago, the Red Sox were the targets with their Apple Watches. This time, they're the victims, or more accurately, one of the victims.
This time, it appears, the Houston Astros are the culprits.
A story by Danny Picard in Metro News reported that security evicted a man from Fenway Park photo pit during Game 1 of the ALCS for reportedly aiming his camera in the general direction of the dugout. Yahoo! Sports reported late Tuesday night that the man is Kyle McLaughlin, who is affiliated with the Astros, and who is under investigation by Major League Baseball.
Earlier this season, the Oakland A's suspected the Astros of doing the same thing, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday night that the Cleveland Indians have filed a protest against the Astros for similar behavior during the recent ALDS between the teams, won by Houston in three straight.
Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the Sox have been kept abreast of baseball's investigation.
"It's really is in Major League Baseball's hands,'' Dombrowski said after the Red Sox' 8-2 win in Game 3 of the ALCS. "I'm not concerned about it though. It was done early in the game (in Game 1), caught early in the game. It did not cost us anything.''
Added Alex Cora: "Somebody mentioned that to me right now. I think that's an MLB issue. They'll do what they have to do. But I just heard today.''
