The Red Sox don't have to submit their ALCS playoff roster until late Saturday morning, but there don't seem to be any changes brewing from the 25 players the Sox carried for the ALDS meeting with the Yankees.
"We're going sit down tonight and see where we're at,'' said Alex Cora. "But I think our roster in the Yankee series matches up well with who we're going to play here. Most likely we'll stay the same, but we still have to talk about it.''
Two things could impact the roster:
One is the availability of first baseman Mitch Moreland, who is nursing a strained right hamstring. Moreland hit in the cage Thursday and is slowly improving.
"We've still got time with him,'' Cora said. "Hopefully, he keeps getting better and he'll be ready to go Saturday.''
The other -- which may be related -- would be if the Sox opt to go with 12 pitchers after carrying 11 in the first round.
"If we make a (change), that would be the route,'' said Cora of his pitching staff.
