Good morning!
A few random thoughts while I wonder how many games it will take for people to call for Tuukka Rask to be benched:
- Ah, do you smell that? It's the unmistakable aroma of a hockey locker room and, I for one, can't be more excited that hockey is back as the Bruins drop the puck tonight in Washington and look to spoil the banner ceremony for the Capitals.
- After the China trip, which seemed to more of a problem than anything, Patrice Bergeron missing all of camp, and Torey Krug now out for the first month, it should be an interesting start to the season. Of course, the Bruins started 6-7-4 last season and they finished with 50 wins and 112 points, so...
- Equally excited that today's the first day for our new full-time Bruins writer, Conor Ryan. Conor's been on my radar for a while as the B's writer for MassLive the past two years. He's a BU kid from Southie and is a real workah, so I'm excited to see what he can do. Make sure you check out the stories he's already filed here, and more are on the way.
- Conor's still has some loose ends as far as relocation, so I'm heading down to D.C. to cover the Bruins tonight in the nation's capital. If you're in town for the game, hit me up on Twitter. I'll be looking for a place to grab a bite before the game and would love some company.
- Can't believe the Rockies beat the Cubs last night. Makes you wonder what's in store between the A's and Yankees.
- Alex Cora said he's "100 percent sure" Chris Sale is healthy and ready to go on Friday night. He may be the only one.
- Brad Stevens called out his team publicly and privately last night. Love it.
