Live Patriots notebook: Flowers (limited -- concussion) says he expects to play Thursday taken at Gillette Stadium (Patriots)

FOXBOROUGH — You want some good news, Patriots fans? Trey Flowers says he expects to play on Sunday.

New England’s most accomplished pass rusher went down with a concussion earlier this month against the Jaguars, and missed last week’s loss to the Lions. On Wednesday, he was spotted at the start of practice, and was later listed as “limited” on the injury report.

After the practice session, Flowers sounded an optimistic note when asked if he believes he'll be ready to go Sunday against Miami.

"Yeah," Flowers said. "I mean you know, I expect to work and be able to play. And whatever happens, happens."

Flowers’ absence against the Lions was palpable, as New England offered scant resistance when it came to the pass rush in the 26-10 loss. Flowers said he didn’t sit around lamenting how things might have been if he had played.

"I'm not going to sit here and say, 'I would've done this, could've done that,' because obviously I'm at a different vantage point and I'm not in the game," he said.

In one-plus game this season, Flowers — who is a free agent after this year — has 1.5 sacks, three hurries, one QB hit, a forced fumble and a drawn penalty.

The news on Flowers was much-needed for a team that made some distressing transactions (Ja'Whaun Bentley and Rex Burkhead were placed on injured reserve) heading into Sunday's clash with the 3-0 Dolphins. Both Flowers and Patrick Chung missed the Lions game as they recovered from concussions suffered in a loss to the Jaguars.

In terms of the overall injury report, here's the complete list for both teams:
