BSJ Daily Briefing 09.25.18: Sox set franchise record for wins, Celtics kick off camp

Good morning!

• The Red Sox passed two pretty important milestones last night, locking up homefield advantage throughout the postseason on their way to a franchise-best 106 wins.


• The two accomplishments are pretty impressive when you consider they still have five games left to play in the season but now the challenging part comes for Alex Cora with his preparation. With no meaningful games on the schedule until the start of the ALDS next Friday, how should he handle these last few days? Sean breaks down that conundrum.


• An off day for the Pats yesterday in the wake of Monday's defeat. Greg will do his usual deep dive into the game film later today but in the meantime it's clear that the Pats could use Josh Gordon on the field Will he be available next Sunday? Chris dissects what to watch for there


• It's far too early for must wins but the Pats really need to take care of business on Sunday. Giving the Dolphins a three-game edge in the division with 12 to play would be a tough ask of this group.


• Celtics training camp officially kicks off today in Brighton with a double session at the new Red Auerbach Center. Should be a quick ramp up for the guys with their first preseason game looming on Friday.
